2. Yes, that's more a question of what your budget is, and what kinds of inputs you are going to use. For a system with a very large TV, such as 60 inches or more, and/or with a BluRay disc player, you will likely want to have a more powerful and versatile system than with a smaller TV and/or a regular DVD player. You can start in HT systems for about $500. There are some great 5.1 receivers and speaker systems available. For more money, you can get a more powerful receiver, with more inputs and outputs, move up to at least 7.1 and get much bigger and more powerful speakers. Its also quite possible to go so far upscale that each pair of speakers have their own dedicated power amplifier, and at that point, you're into the multi thousands of $$$. It's all a matter of balance; theres no point in having a $10,000 audio system with a 26 inch tube TV and a basic DVD player, and theres no point in connecting a BluRay player and a 60 inch LCD to a $200 all in one box system. |
